Learning Expectations:

Our teachers have been working diligently to ensure that we can provide distance learning opportunities for your child(ren).  Beginning Monday, on their ItsLearning pages (or other means), you will find a wealth of resources and lessons that our district coordinators have put in place to cover some of the most important objectives this spring, as well as resources and messages from teachers.  This is a great way for your child to stay connected to their teacher and continue learning.  They have planned for 1.5-2 hours of Math, 1.5 – 2 hours of ELA, 30 minutes of Science and 30 minutes of Social Studies, PER WEEK, as long as school is cancelled.  These are ALL virtual and do not require much from you, other than setting up the structure for them to engage approximately an hour a day, or any other way the time can be designed by you.  On some assignments for the upper grades, an answer key is provided if you want to check conduct a check for understanding.  This time for distance learning will be key in maintaining the learning progress that has already been made and continue to support them in completing the curriculum objectives as we move into the final 9 weeks of the school year. We also expect the children to read (or be read to)30-45 minutes a day, and that they complete as many Dreambox lessons as they can (Our school wide competition continues!), at least 30 minutes for grades K-2, and 90 minutes for grades 3-5, per week.

We recognize that many of our families are navigating how to conduct their own on-line work at home while managing our own children at home.  We have also consider that each family may have a variety of factors that impact the amount of time they may have to access on line time depending on the number of devises in the home verses the number of family members needing to use a devise.  District coordinators are looking into possibilities for students who do not have access to a device.
