E-STEM Overview
In the fall of 2014 CCISD’s new E-STEM Magnet program began at Ed White Elementary School. E-STEM is an acronym for Elementary - Science,Technology, Engineering and Math. Students in E-STEM schools participate in a highly enriched curriculum that focuses on STEM subjects. They are expected to think critically and solve real-world problems. E-STEM schools have an increased focus on engineering through basic design application and technology that is infused throughout the entire curriculum.  

Grade Levels Included in the Program
The E-STEM program is implemented in every grade level for students who attend Ed White Elementary as their home school.   In addition, the school district has approved the addition of extra spaces in kindergarten for students who are in CCISD, but outside the Ed White attendance zone.  These spaces will be chosen through a lottery system.  Students in grades 1st - 5th may transfer into the program through a first come, first served transfer request as space allows. See Student Transfers, and CCISD Policy FDA/FDB (LOCAL) for more information.
  • STEM Parent Info Nights are Monday, April 9, 2018 or Monday, April 23, 2018, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Ed White Cafeteria. 
  • Transfers window opens March 1, 2018 for students in grades 1st - 5th.  (we no longer do a lottery for first grade, we don’t have room!)
  • Applications are due by May 18, 2018 at 3:45 p.m. (Lottery application opens March 1, 2018)
  • Lottery is held electronically on May 25, 2018. Parents will be notified through email.

  • Benefits of E-STEM Programs

    • Students are provided with high-interest connections in science and engineering curriculum.
    • Students are exposed to the elements of basic design and application within the context of the current CCISD science curriculum.
    • Students are provided with early opportunities to explore and develop their interests in STEM subjects.  
    • Students' intellectual passions are encouraged and connected to STEM subjects through problem-based learning.
    • Student efficacy, intellectual growth and self esteem are boosted.
